The Legacy of St Philip

The Legacy of St Philip

The stories of the friends and followers of Saint Philip Neri published in honour of his quincentenary and the silver jubilee of the Oratory in Oxford.

In the 500 years since his birth in 1515, the influence of St Philip Neri has spread beyond the Oratory he founded in Rome. In a series of talks first given at the Oxford Oratory in 2015, we see how he helped to convert Rome through his friendships with Popes and Saints, how his spirit was passed on to the first fathers of the Oratory, and how that spirit was brought to England by Blessed John Henry Newman. The same year saw the canonization of St Joseph Vaz of the Oratory in Goa, which is recorded in an article to celebrate the occasion.
