More Bees
Visitors to our Church on Monday were once again treated to a spectacular swarm of bees. Regular readers of our website may remember this has happened before: Circumdederunt me sicut apes.
The bees swarm when their colony gets too big. Half the colony leaves to go and find a new home. Here they can be seen gathered on the side of the house waiting for their scouts to tell them where that new location was to be. This swarm contained approximately 25,000 bees.
In fact, the bees have found rather a better new home than they were expecting. The swarm was collected by the Rt Rev. Dom Cuthbert Brogan OSB, Abbot of St Michael's Abbey, Farnborough. The Abbey has a number of hives that produce the very popular ‘Abbot's Special Honey’.
