A Novena for Parliament

The Assisted Dying Bill will be considered by Parliament next week. Our bishops have encouraged every Catholic to write to our Members of Parliament, expressing our strong disagreement with this measure, which strikes at the dignity of human life.

One of our parishioners has produced the following prayer, which may be used as a novena:

A Symphony of Novenas 2-19 September 2015:

Let us surround our politicians with prayer on September 11th,
praying a Novena any of the nine consecutive days around the debate on the Assisted Suicide Bill.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of life. Jesus we thank you for suffering for us and obtaining for us the gift of eternal life. Holy Spirit, we thank you for giving us the strength to follow Jesus on the Way of the Cross and for helping us to live in Truth and Love.

We pray for the leaders of our land (at least a decade of the Rosary) that the Truth may be spoken courageously, heard with understanding and acted upon with integrity. May we all be united in winning the battle against depression, neglect and pain through encouragement, care, companionship and creativity. Let us pray with all our heart so that where suffering and pain threaten to overwhelm us, love and compassion may give meaning and life to all.

At each Hail Mary let us invite one of our favourite Saints to pray with us! Thank you.
