All who enter and leave the Church must pass through the archway on the Woodstock Road. The central image is a crucifixion scene. Until recently, the writing on either side was barely legible. But in 2011, the arch was cleaned, and the inscription can once again be clearly seen: Sanctus immortalis miserere nobis—‘Holy immortal one, have mercy on us’, from the Good Friday ‘Trisagion’.
Above the doorway is a statue of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. This was installed in 2005, and replaced the statue of St Aloysius that has been smashed by vandals.
