The Year of Faith begins Today
11th October is the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and so is the start of the Year of Faith, which will conclude on the Feast of Christ the King 2013.
In his letter "Porta Fidei", Pope Benedict has asked that we use the Year of Faith to deepen our love for the Blessed Sacrament. It is appropriate therefore that we will inaugurate this year with our Forty Hours Devotion, which begins with a Solemn Mass of Exposition on Friday 12th October at 6pm.
Exposition will continue throughout the night - with Compline sung by the Dominican friars and Benediction at midnight, Matins & Lauds sung by the Sisters of the Work at 5am, and Low Masses at 6am and 10am. There will be a Mass for Peace on Saturday 13th at 6.30pm, and the church will then close at midnight on Saturday.
The Sunday 11am Mass will be of the Sacred Heart, and exposition then continues until Solemn Vespers, Procession and Benediction at 5pm.
We also hope during the Year of Faith to help people to explore and deepen their faith by running the "Evangelium" course in the parish. Further details will follow.
